Default Maintaining Tire Pressure

Got a question I've been noticing about my tire pressure. It seems to be all over the place, I try to maintain 32 lbs as recommended in the door jam of my Accord. Problem is I'll fill/adjust to exactly 32 then check them a day or two later and one may be 28 lbs (ok I understand a slow leak and I know I have one in one tire.) But what confuses me is all or a few of the other tires may be at lets say 34 or 35 lbs. Why are they all over the place and what's the best time to fill and check them, when the tires are cold or warm from driving? I've tried two different tire gauges both not cheapies actually one I paid around 40.00 for and it tells me the same results. So why is the pressure all over the place and has anybody else noticed this?

I take it you don't follow football and never took notice of the whole DeflateGate scandal. The fact is, there is no way to keep your tires at a steady pressure; the best you can do is to set them when "cold" (i.e. at the ambient air temperature), and then let them rise and fall as they will per the Ideal Gas Law. Best practice, adjust your tire pressure quarterly, worst case, at least every six months.

Shipo is right. The heat and cold will make your tire pressure fluctuate. Fill in the morning and you are good. Check pressures every quarter.

Unless you have a slow leak on 1.

Yes you're right. But as I read it the OP understands what a slow leak is and acknowledges he has one in one of his tires but he is questioning his other tires pressure being everywhere but where he sets it. I hope you weren't insinuating that a slow leak in one effects the others.

Mine are parked in my garage overnight & that lets all 4 tires come to the same temperature. I realize not everyone has a garage, but anyway...
Parked in the sun, I've found the sunny side of the car can get 1 or 2 psi higher than the shaded side. Everyone has to figure out how to handle this, play some games with it & back into the driveway & put the opposite side of the car in the sun. But remember 1 or 2 psi won't upset your driving much unless you're racing. I've never worried about that when I'm on vacation driving all day with the same side facing the sun.

Thanks all I guess I'll stop checking and adjusting so often. The slow leak is a problem with the seal the car is an '09 and I've got a little "pitting" going on tire places have told me they suspect that's it. Very familiar with deflate gate live 1/2 hour from Gillette Stadium. Go Pats!!

Tire place can un-seat the bead & smear some goo around before putting it back on. If it's worthwhile to do anything.

Yup, had Discount tire do that to a 76 Cosworth Vega rim/tire combo 2 years ago. It's still holding the same pressure as it did that day. They showed me the pitting in the aluminum rim. Asked them to do whatever they could for it.
