Default More problems

So, I go out this morning and my car is running fine, then I gas it a little and it starts to bog and slow down. First thought was Timing Belt but then the car would have shutoff, so I turned off the car thinking it was fine, I came back, and the car was really misfiring, so I went back home and I changed the MAP sensor on top of the throttle body, no luck, and then it occurs to me, NO SPARK! So, I take off one of my cables and you won't believe me, but they were dripping with oil! >=/ Now this just pissed me off, my mechanics fault entirely, he supposedly had changed the oil rings, now either he didn't put them in right, or they were freaking cheap rings, so, what do you guys think? I'm actually kinda scared about my Celica because what if he doesn't do that engine correctly as well. Any Comments?

If the oil is on the top of the spark plug where the spark plug wire connects, then it is likely the rubber upper seals on the valve cover. It probably is not the piston oil rings.

Pick up a fel-pro valve cover gasket set and replace them. Pay attention to which face gets installed on the four upper seals. It is easy to install them upside-down on the EX model, so pay attention to how the old ones are installed.

I think deserthonda wrote a DIY writeup about changing them out as well. Its in the main DIY section.

Its not too hard to do. You have to use some hondabond or RTV-gray at the hump near the camshaft.

Download a 94 shop manual from the spooner link I posted in the Online Manuals thread in the DIY section to see what I am talking about. Having the factory manual helps a ton with DIY work.

Never even thought of that. Glad you figured it out.
