Default MPG question for 2010 Coupe 2.4L Auto

About 6 weeks ago, some jackwagon ran a stop sign and totaled my 2002 Coupe. So now I've bought a 2010 Coupe. My 2002 was the 2.3L with 5 speed manual tranny. I checked my MPG yesterday and I'm getting only 24 mpg. This is about 80% highway/20% city driving. For the same driving pattern, I was getting 29 with my 2002. I'm extremely dissapointed in getting a 20+ % reduction in gas mileage. The EPA estimated mpg is 21 and 31 for my 2010. If I had known my mpg was going to suck this bad with a 4 cylinder, I would have bought a V6 to get the power to go along with the poor mpg. What is everybody else experiencing for mpg with the 2.4L automatic 5 speed?

Your title list an auto; but, your question is for a 5-speed?

My 2009 2.4L auto gets about 27-29 mpg with 80% highway/20% city. It's in the low 30's if all highway. A 5-speed should be a little better.

2011-2012 is when Honda made some changes to improve fuel efficiency even higher for the 8th generation Accords.

My tranny is a 5 speed automatic. I'll just call it an automatic from now on. However, your mileage is much better than mine. Wondering if there's something wrong with mine.

What helped a little to improve my gas mileage, since many times I drive long distances in a day, was to switch to Low Roll Resistance (LRR) Michelin tires. Less grip than high performance tires; but, I wanted/needed the gas savings. From my calculations, my fuel efficiency went up on average 2 mpg - highway with the tires.
