Multiple miss-fire problem - Help!!
I own a 1999 Accord 3.0 V-tech with about 200,000kms. The car has been well maintained with mostly OEM parts. I have an intermittent problem that I cannot figure out. It started as an occasional hesitation from a standstill. The up-stream O2 sensor was changed, but it did not correct the problem. Then ignition wires, cap, rotor & spark plugs were replaced with premium quality parts, still had the problem. A scan revealed multiple miss-fires on all cylinders. The igniter and ignition coil were changed, no solution. The EGR valve was changed 3 years ago, it was removed and inspected, no clogging.
The problem only appears when the engine is at operating temperature, and you do a lot of stop-start driving. It does not manifest itself at all when high-way driving, even after several hours. In stop-start driving, it becomes worse if you mash the accelerator. But you can still drive if you play with the pedal. Two garages and a dealership have not been able to figure it out.
Can someone help me?
Thanks, Marc D

The EGR valve itself is not where the soot clogging occurs;

I wouldn't worry about installing the "pipe kit", but clear the port where the intake manifold meets the channel from the EGR valve.

Hey HondaDude,
Thanks for the reply. I checked the passage that leads from the EGR valve to the manifold and it looked clear. I will check again, (perhaps un-bolt it) and see if there is any clogging.
Thanks. Any other suggestions are most welcome.
