I have no idea if this is normal but my car while in park will stay steadily revved at 1000rpm and then will fluctuate to about 1250 rpm. M car has been doing this since I've had it for about a year and a half. Does any one else have this problem? If its not serious I won't get it looked at, i changed my pads last week and don't have any money.

 

V-6 or 4-cyl engine?

Heres a few possibilities for you to check...
1) Vacuum leaks
2) Air pockets in cooling system
3)Stuck or dirty IAC valve. Not too bad for a DIY job, look in the DIY section for instructions.

If that doesnt do it, you might have to set your base idle & reset your ECU so it can re-learn the idle system.
