Default My car shakes! Please help me!

Hi guys..

right, i have a 2006 honda accord 2.2 cdti... I bought it with 120k on the clock.

The problem is that when i hit 55-65 MPH the whole front end shakes and vibrates like a side to side movement... Its very annoying. Ive had 4 garages look at it and they cant figure it out. Here is what they have checked/done:

Brakes and calipers all ok
all bushes ok
All engine mounts ok
All sus ok

Its not to do with the steering cos there is no vibration in the steering rack or the wheel.. is like something rotational is buggered.

I have changed the duel mass fly and put a brand new clutch in.. no joy....

The odd thing is .. is that it ONLY happens between these speeds and ONLY under load when I accelerate. when you lift of it goes away. I have changed the drivers side shaft and will do the Passenger side but all garages say it cant be that..

Its really annoying me and would apreciate any ideas!

Thank you

I would rotate the tires and see if there is a change. This is a long-shot, but easy to try.

I would also try the "tyres" as you call them in the UK right?

thanks for the reply.. i have had all 4 wheels checked fo flat spots and all rebalanced.. i have even swapped front for back and no joy.. it only does it under load...

its quite a violent vibration but almost feels side to side movement..

So it only does it between 55-65mph, when you go faster it stops doing it?

yes that is correct.. over 66ish is fine.. up to 55 is good. between those speeds i cant accelerate past quarter throttle or it shakes.. the more i push the throttle the more aggressive the vibration is.. its like its linked to the amount of torque going through the engine.. it doesnt matter what RPM im at its only during those speeds..

Well that certainly is odd, you mentioned a clutch so I assume the car is a manual? And it does it no matter what gear you are in between those speeds?
