My car shakes! Please help me!
My car had the exact same issue around 55 it would start shaking and at 70 it would stop. The car would only shake when the gas pedal was down. The fix was taking it to a decent shop and the mechanic replaced both front axles(I've had people tell me that only one was bad and he was trying to get some more money out of me) but ever since I've been very happy with the smoothness of my ride. Worth checking out.
Hi all,
I had similar issues with my 2005 Honda Accord Tourer i-CTDI: car shaking badly during accelleration around 40-70km/h and sometimes around 90-100.
The first diagnosis was a faulty inner CV-joint (right side).
After replacing that, the car still had the shakes, just as badly as before.
Before making any more replacements, a technical specialist from the Honda Market Company came to inspect the problem, and he said to replace first one of the outer CV-joints, and if needed both.
I just picked up my car, and they needed to replace both outer CV-joints. I also inspected the joints, and by just looking at them, you can't see anything wrong with them. That's probably why it's so difficult to say which one is faulty up-front.
Anyway, the car drives ever so smooth now. Fingers crossed it stays like that as you only get 1 year warranty on those parts.
Expensive fix, but it would have been even more expensive if the Market Company would not have given a special price reduction for the parts.
This experience did shatter my hopes that buying a Honda was bullet-proof.
I don't expect costs or repairs like this after 90000km (the car is 5 years old).
Then again, the Seat I had before was a lot more trouble (not to mention the Skoda that my wife used to drive).
Cheers,
Charles
