Need Help grounding white wire/green stripe to turn Brake Lamp sensor light off
Hello.
After replacing all bulbs and cleaning up the connectors and board for the brake lamp sensor did not work to turn off the Brake Lamp indicator, am now using the instructions here https://www.hondaaccordforum.com/for...ff-7706/page2/ to just ground it.
I cut the white wire with green stripe circled in purple in pic 1 below. I tried to ground it at the antenna to the black wire, but the Brake Lamp light did not go out. Should I just cut one of the two black wires in the bundle instead? I thought if it was grounded it should go out, so I don't know why it stayed on when I attached it to the black antenna wire. I am not really wanting to cut the black wire on the bundle if it isn't going to fix it either. I was glad the instructions gave the antenna as an alternate place to ground.
The antenna is missing the mast. Don't know if that makes a difference. I cut the wires to it as this post https://honda-tech.com/forums/tech-m...tenna-2712252/ showed. And the motor is worked fine off the 9V battery. Since they were already cut, I thought I would use the black ground there. As said, the Brake Lamp light did not go off. Seems like any ground should have worked? Is it possible the antenna circuit is not complete if the wires are not working with the car battery and just worked fine touched to the 9V? Thanks.

One warning lamp says something like "brake lamp". I'm pretty sure the low-fluid warning shares the same warning lamp with the handbrake warning.
On my Accords, there's only the one warning light on the dash. Yes, the e-brake will turn it on, as will the low fluid level. There aren't any indicators for a blown bulb though.
Hello.
1) This is a pic of the Brake Lamp sensor failure indicator that I see. You can't see it in the pic, but it says BRAKELAMP
2) This is a pic of the other Brake warning light:
3) Here they are side by side-
4) What I think is going on for me with the original question about grounding the white w/ green stripe wire is that I attempted to ground it to the nonworking power antenna (no mast, motor tested working with a 9V battery.) At first, it didn't ground at all. Then I messed with it a little more (also put in an aftermarket radio, so the antenna cable got some wiggling around) and got it to ground for a while. Now it is on again. So I think that the antenna does not have a consistently working circuit.
5) I was not really wanting to cut the black wire in the bundle. Is there really any reason not to though? I don't have a solder thing. I usually just use wire nuts when I have connected wires for various things. I am not sure how that will work though as the black wire will not have any length to work with if I just cut it. Since it grounds a lot of things, right?- I need to do it properly. Also it just rained here and I noted the trunk leaks considerably. It smelled strongly of mildew, so I think this was a problem at purchase we did not know about.
If you need a ground, you could use any of several mounting bolts, like for example where the antenna motor is bolted to it's mounting bracket. That would be a good ground especially if you scrape off any paint or corrosion. Since the trunk is wet, look for something at a higher elevation? Or look for where the water is getting in?
Instead of wire nuts, try a crimp connector (butt-splice).
Hello. Just wanted to finally give the end of this story (as I am back on here for a problem with side view mirror glass.) I had not posted the ending, because I was still waiting for it to end! Finally just went to ignoring it and giving up getting it all the way off. I was not comfortable cutting the black wire in the bundle, so left it on the antenna. I tried to tighten it better and tape it off. Then one day, it went off! I was so happy the indicator light was off at last.
What I have found out, over time, is that it comes back on everytime it rains. I guess the condensation does something to that area where the wires are and it loses ground. After the rain stops and everything dries up again in a few days, the indicator light goes back off. I am not sure why, because I looked at it and the connection is well sealed with electrical tape. Water doesn't enter there. But that's what it does. So that's how it is for now. Thank you everyone for input on this and apology for late ending.

No problem, we're just glad you found the problem, and possibly what's causing it.
