Default need help trying to check engine codes

i have a 1990 honda accord i found the 2 prong connector its blue and not connected to anything.... its in the area of the passenger kick panel....

I did the paper clip thing to connect the two prongs
(does everything sound like im doing it right so far)

I turned the key to the 2nd positon then stared at the blinking lights...

Well theres two openings to the panel covering the computer
The one on the left is just blinking a lot
the one on the right is really hard to tell its kinda faded but theres a red dot there to
(what one do i look at for the long or short blinks)
(how long do i have to watch the lights)

Plz let me know thanks

This belongs in General Tech, I'll move it there so you have better chance of someone answering it. I don't know 1990 Accords all that well...

There are two computers with red lights. One is for the engine (ECU) and the other is for the transmission (TCU). The one on the left is the ECU and the right is the TCU.

If both are blinking, then you should read both of them and post them on here. Also, shorting that connector may have the check engine light blink the ECU code for you. And the S or D4 light may blink the TCU code. I am not certain when the accord started flashing the CEL for the code.

The code will repeat itself, so keep counting until you it starts repeating.

And... if you have a manual tranny, there is NO TCU.
