New 93 Accord owner with some questions...
I was happy to find such a place to contact other honda owners and get advice on how to take care of my new/old car! This is great!
Anyway, I recently purchased a 1993 Honda Accord 10 Annv Ed. It only has 103K and I will be the 3rd owner. The orig owner told the person who I bought it from that the timing belt HAD been changed at about 91K. I had it inspected before I bought it and it needed to have some things done like a cam shaft seal replaced, a crank shaft seal replaced. But when the engine was opened up it was verified that the timing best was OK, no oil had saturated it. Whew! Also, the CV joints needed greasing.
My question is, is there any advice on how to maintain and take care of this 15-16 year old car? High mileage oil? Anything flushed? I do notice that when I put it in park, reverse or drive that it "shakes" really hard. Is that normal?
Any advice would be very helpful. This is going to be a commuter car that needs to last as long as it can. We know what they say about Hondas, but I really want to take good care of this car.
Thanks for any help and advice!

If they are going into there to replace the crank seal anyway, get the oil pump seal replaced. That is probably what is really leaking and not the crank seal.
For your idle concerns, clean out the throttle plate area, probably a ring of sludge around the plate, and take the air Idle control valve off, it has a screen on it that will be plugged up with crud.
Inspect the front subframe "dogbone" motor mount, the top bushing usually goes bad.

I have replaced the FITV (fast idle control valve) but I think that is different from what you are talking about.

So is the Idle control valve and the AICV the same thing?
So is the Idle control valve and the AICV the same thing?
(Saab used to call their similar valve AICV for Adaptive Idle Control Valve...)
