Default New Brake Rotors Requiring Turning

I have a 1999 Accord LX. Talking to my Honda service advisor about an up-coming front brake job, he told me that new rotors would still have to be turned on a lathe, before installing them, to insure that they were true. I've never heard of this before for any car. Is this necessary or is this just a money grab? Thanks for you help.

I've NEVER had to do that with new rotors. If they are NOT true, then I'd just as soon suspect a bent hub or something like that.
