Default new here 92 accord doesnt run good

hey i have a 92 accord lx f22a1 5speed. ever since i got the car it was always a little sluggish in 1st and 2nd below 2500 rpms. the problem is much worse taking off up a hill its almost impossible the car bogs and stutters until you make it up the hill or get above 2500 which takes much longer than past the hill most times. i recently tried to check the timing and found i could only see the 15 degree BTDC mark with my light hooked to the 4 cylinder spark plug wire i think that may have something to do with it but i want to find out because i have to change the timing belt to change the water pump so if my timing is jacked i could fix that too maybe. any help is much appreciated

A good place to start would be with the EGR ports. They're pretty easy to check and clean.

I marked the notches on my crank pulley with some whiteout to see the marks better with a timing light.

EGR port cleaning is a good idea. Also consider a tuneup. Spark plugs (only the NGK V-power plugs for your car), and inspect the distributor cap and rotor.

Google TSB 013 for a pdf on how to do this. It will be the first hit on your search.
