New top end vs reman engine
#21
#3 is gone.....why is the hard part. Could be the head gasket or something else. It's a hard call at this point, the engine is out so pulling the one head and having it checked and then putting it back vs. the replacement engine
Either way, I would think about doing the t-belt job and that (either engine) since you are that far into it.

My daughter said it was revving up by itself in park, which leads me to believe there was an air pocket in the coolant system. I do believe it got hot and just blew the head gasket. Also, this tdc sensor, that is the code I got when I checked it. Since the timing belt is going to get replaced, I'll do that as well. I wish I had filmed when I broke loose the pulley bolt for the timing belt. I put a breaker bar on it and just bumped the engine over and wa-la, bolt was broke loose. So simple. As for the replacement engine, this guy is dragging his feet about getting me pics and information, which is making my mind wonder as to why. If I had a good engine and was trying to sell and an eager buyer was requesting info, I'd jump on it to sell.. -- So that's leading me to just doing a top end rebuild on mine.
EDIT: Btw (for those that know me and my timing belt issue) I finally saw on the cover that the timing belt was last replaced in June 2008. The belt still looks brand new though, but still going to get replaced.

Which brings me to a question about my tdc sensor.. Mine is a 4 pin, but all the ones I am finding that say they are for my car, are only showing a 2 pin. My 4 pin goes to 2 sensors, theirs goes to 1.. 37500P0GA01

Historically, the term I've always used when referring to rebuilt heads is a "valve job". I can see how "head job" could yield some, ummm, interesting results.
