Default NEW user, three questions for 92 Accord

My car is a 1992 Honda Accord EX 4-cyl 2.2 Automatic transmission.

1. I adjusted my FITV, but I had to use pliers to loosen one of the bolts because the head was stripped. Anyone know what size/type bolts these are?

2. In the engine compartment Fuse Box, there are two 40-amp fuses where the cover diagram shows there should be 20-amp, the Cooling fan is the one I was looking to check. Should I pull them out and use the 20-amps fuses as the diagram calls?

3. The transmission is shifting weird, not rough, just not at the right RPMs... and the speedometer is jumping around, and at times doesn't even move. Fluid looks/smells fine. And I can't pull codes because neither D4 or D3 light up on my gauge cluster. I'm guessing its the VSS, right?

1) Appear (torque spec) to be M6x1, but I could not find a direct size spec.

2) Cooling fan fuses are 15A in 1990 manual. The 20A fuses are power door locks, power windows, sunroof, and headlights. If 40A fuses are installed where 20A fuses are intended, you could result in damaged wiring, connectors, or worst case, a fire.

3) Is Check Engine Light on? If yes, check for VSS codes. Faulty gauge panel will cause speedometer problems, but not trans problems. Has ATF been drained/replaced w/ Honda ATF? Suggest checking for codes by looking at the ECM/ TCM boards through the mount frame windows. Red leds will illumunate to flash codes, or replace the D4 bulbs in gauge panel.

good luck

On item #3, if you've had the car short enough time that you've not refreshed the AT tranny fluid by the drain and fill mechanism (only gets a part each time) that would be a first step - as Texas Honda says.

When I got my '97 AT my first maintenance step was to drain and fill x2 separated by 5 miles of driving. Each one took 2.5 qts.

Best.
