Exclamation Newbie needs help with steering rack fittings

Hey guys/gals,
Looking for advice on getting this power steering rack out of a 1997 accord. The main problem is the two fittings that came off of it and sit above the rear subframe are tight and very hard to get to.. I was wondering if anyone had any tips/pointers on how to get these fittings off... maybe if I drop the rack down I can slide it below the rear subframe and than loosen them?

Or is dropping the whole rear subframe the way to do it? Just trying to avoid taking the rear mount out.

I appreciate any advice on the power steering rack and pinion removal and installation.

I have never removed the PS rack. I would suggest for you to get the 94 shop manual from the spooner link I posted in the online manuals thread in the main DIY section. It will have instructions on how to remove it.

1997 Honda Accord 2dr Automatic 4cyl.

Need help with replacing steering rack.. main problem is the two fittings on the hard line.

Any link to a free manual, dont want to have to order and wait for a manual for the process of removing two bolts (there just in a real tough spot for the tool needed) (line wrench)

Thank you again.

Thumbs up 1997 Honda Accord Steering Rack Help??

I was replacing my front brake pads with car on lift and right front tire toes in and out about 1/2 inch each way. The Left front does not do this. Is this a steering rack issue? or is this normal?? The ball joints are tight.

Any help?? If so where is the best place to purchase a new or remanufactured steering rack, as I only need this car to last about 12 more months. THANKS!

Are you sure it's not the play in the steering wheel actually moving?
