Smile Newbie w/ a question

Hey everyone! Just joined this evening & I was curious to know if any of you have had experience replacing the a/c condenser in an 09 accord 4dr w/ the 2.4- am I in for a nightmare? The dealer wants between $550 & $700, but I'm fairly mechanically inclined, so I'm hoping I can do this job myself. Any wisdom is greatly appreciated!

Doesn't look too bad - checked the service manual I have (4 cyl) and it looks pretty straight forward. A few things at the top have to be removed and the lines then it pretty much lifts up and out.

Suggest a new receiver/dryer as well since the system will have to be "opened up".....plus it is "bolted" to the condenser. New o-rings for the lines.

You will then have to decide how you want to re-charge the system? Do it yourself (vac pump and gauges needed) or take it somewhere and let them do it.

I'd be glad to e-mail some pages from the service manual I have if you get stuck - won't post because of "copyright" issues.......

Off topic - Full story on me, complicated. My avatar and signature line are...well mis-leading. My avatar is a pic of my oldest son just after he graduated from OSC USMC. Signatue are quotes from songs - cats in the cradle - and then - close my eyes forever - the pic and the two quotes make a story.

Again, for the car - if you decide to DIY and get stuck, "we" will try to help out.

THANK YOU for your service!

The condensor and drier are all one unit and is 89.00 @ Advance auto parts. Coupon code TRT30 will net you some savings. Buy online and pickup in store after 30 minutes. Just changed one on a V-6 accord, took about 1.5 hours with evacuating and charging the system. Be sure to evacuate the system first! This generation Accords condensor has seen more rock debris from the roads than many. Good luck.
