no no acceleration and muffled noise from the motor
I have a 2008 Honda Accord EX 4 cyl. Auto tran., we have 148,000 miles on the vehicle. I just got the oil changed and less then a week later, we start the vehicle up and no acceleration and muffled noise fro the motor.
It also seemed as the transmission was taking longer to shift.
Anyone have and idea what this could be?
I have owned several Honda's but this by far has been the biggest headache!!!

Is Check Engine Light on? If yes, get the codes. Autozone or other auto parts stores will do this for free in most states.
Make sure tail pipe is not blocked. Also check that someone didn't damage exhaust pipe from engine to catalytic converter.
good luck

This could be a complex or simple problem. I checked the Honda Shop Manual and problem is there is improper timing between camshaft and crankshaft, or timing is sensed as improper but is actually OK.
Worst case is timing chain has jumped a tooth on camshaft or crankshaft allowing timing to be in error. This will require timing chain replacement and likely other parts as well. It will be expensive, possibly $1000 or more. Hopefully, it is sensor, but poor running of engine does not suggest this case. Has engine has regular oil changes?
You will need a shop manual and an understanding of mechanical and electrical diagnostics to tackle this problem. Otherwise, I would suggest having a good Honda/Acura shop perform the diagnostics.
Depending on your mechanical skill level, you could align the crankshaft to pointers and check camshaft alignment. If off, you know you're looking at timing chain replacement.
Autozone has an online manual, but it is a not easy to use. If you want to purchase a manual, suggest ebay seller "automanualsource" for a $21.99 download manual.

TEXASHONDA - you keep saying timing chain so does that mean the OP's car has a chain vs a belt?
I have never heard of a car with less than 300k-500k miles jumping a tooth on a chain, if this is really his problem wouldn't it be more likely to be a bad tensioner (allowing slack) and not necessarily a jumped tooth.

Beginning w/ year model 2003, my shop manual shows timing chain for the 4-cylinder.
The same engine in Acura TSX has had some problems w/ timing chain. I don't remember the details, but may have been tensioner wear/damage allowing slack to develop.
