Default No Start??

I've got a no start condition with my 1990 accord ex , dist. coil, igniter , cap and rotor are new as is the main relay. I read on a different site that the ignition switch may cause a problem with the igniter not getting voltage has anyone ever experienced this ?

With the ignition switch in 'on' or 'crank' you should have battery voltage at the Black/yellow wire at the dist connection.

thanks hondadude, yes with the key on i have voltage @ the yel/blk wire but none from the blue wire, does this indicate a bad igniter. or should there be voltage at the blue wire when the engine is being cranked, i was working alone so the blue wirewasn't checked while cranking.

sounds like maybe the solenoid on the starter has crapped out if everything else is ok.

first of all make sure that all the wires are connected correctly on the ignitoir and are tight..as well as the connectors at the distributor ..
now get a test lite remove the distr cap. . turn the key on, you should have power at both sides of the coil... if you do.. put the test lite on the neg side of the coil, have someone crank the engine..if the test lite pulses you got a bad coil, if it does not you get a bad ignitor . .assuming all the wire are connected properly at ignitor

try and let us know the results

ok, well i did what desert suggested and it appeares that the igniter is the problem, which is weird because it is brand new as it was included with the dist. (complete unit).

and the parts store took your old dist. as a 'core'? so you don't have your old ignitor to reuse. LOL been there before.

no, actually i do have the old unit and if i have enough time today before i go to work i may swap them. i'm working 7p-7a so i've got to TRY to get some sleep. i suppose if that doesn't work i will take it to a shop, getting kinda frustrated; what i thought was a simple job has turned into a chaotic mess .
