Default Non-Honda Automatic Transmission Fluid???

Hi,

I am planning to do the 3 drain and fill routine on my accord. I know most folks recommend using genuine Honda ATF. But has anyone had success with other brands at all?

I saw some very good reviews (by honda owners) about Valvoline VV324 MAXLIFE DEXRONIII/MERCON ATF. Any suggestions?

thanks

I was talking to the service manager at the dealership, asking about trans oil and additives like Lucas. He said: "don't". Honda oil was engineered for their transmissions, it's not just a ploy to get you to buy their oil.

Asked why, he said he didn't know for sure but that many, many customers come in with transmission problems; sluggish, trouble shifting and it's mostly because they used an off brand.

I asked about synthetic, he said the same thing..."don't".
