OBD P0145 2000 Honda Accord
I have a 2000 Honda Accord EX 2.3L 4 Cylinder. I currently have an OBD II code of P0145 which says it is the heated O2 bank 1 sensor 3. I am just trying to find out if I am going down the right path; so I will back up and explain a little more.
I had a problem with the car overheating and had the head gasket replaced. The car ran fine for about three weeks then I noticed that my gas mileage was dropping(I live just N of Atlanta and temps have been upper 70s low 80s). On average I would get about 24mph and I am now getting 16-18 with no difference in my driving habits. About a day after that the car was really sluggish and felt as if it would not start. Holding the key turn and stepping on the gas caused the car the start and it would run fine but was still using more gas.
Three days ago the check engine light came on with code P042 and I replaced the O2 sensor in the manifold. I removed the battery and when I cranked the car it was still sluggish. I tested the battery, which was not giving 640 cold crank amps and they replaced it. With the new battery the car started up without any issues. Within a few seconds after cranking the check engine light came back on. The code this time was P0145. I pulled fuse 13 on the passenger side and reset the OBD and the check engine light came back on shortly after cranking and before putting the car into gear. I cleared it two more times just to be sure and the same code has appeared. I then drove for about 25 miles and I can see the gas needle moving.
At this point, should I continue looking into the code or should I drive the car for a period of time? Would you pursue the gas issue, code issue, or are they both related? I was tempted to ignore the code since there is no third O2 sensor or does this actually point to the O2 sensor by the catalytic converter?
I am still very much a car newb and have not found much information on P0145. Thanks for your help.
Cheers,

Is this a ULEV engine? Block serial # stamped near split between block & transmission. First line (above serial#) is the engine type; F23A1 or F23A4?
I had a 1998 non-ULEV and I only saved a list of codes for that engine. My list doesn't include P0145 so I wonder if it's one of the ULEV codes.
IF it's a ULEV engine, is it possible that you got the front O2 sensor for a non-ULEV engine? They ARE different sensors.
