Default OIl in 2002 Accord ex Ulev buring to quick

I changed the oil my self about a thousand miles ago and just recently my check engine light turned on and my oil light turned on occasionally. Took it to the mechanic told me i only had 2 quarts of oil in my engine. I checked if i had any leaks didn't see any the oil seems to be good not coolant leaked in it. I also changed the oil the first time i put 5-20 which is the recommended which burned up quickly now i put 5-30. Any one know what could have caused the oil to go so quickly? NO smoke from tail pipe... know i am monitoring the oil every gas stop so far no change driven about 200 miles since last oil change... Could this even be a one time thing and never happen again?

I hate it when stuff like that happens just once & then magically fixes itself. You never know what caused it & (more important) whether it's gonna happen again.

Keep watching the oil level very often. Level ground, turn it off & let it sit awhile. Wipe off the dipstick because sometimes the oil splashes up farther onto the stick & you think it's full.

If you see it suddenly drop, it'll be important to know what conditions (driving habits, where were you, ???) caused it to drop.

The 9³ is my wife's car, but I get to drive it whenever the gas tank's empty...

Also keep watching the antifreeze. When cool, open the radiator cap & check for oily crud at the top of the radiator. Hope you don't have a headgasket problem, but you'll want to keep a close watch on everything until you find a problem.

Ahhh.. Your car has the munchies too... Just thought I'd let you know that I too drive an accord ex ulev that makes oil disappear like a magicians rabbit. No smoke out the pipe, no leaks, disappearing oil. It uses about a quart every 1000 miles, + or - 100 miles. But it is getting worse. I won't hijack your thread so I'll start my own, but maybe you can do a compression test to see whats going on inside the motor. Mine just developed low compression in one cylinder (though it was gulping oil before that...).

Repeat the compression test after pouring a little oil into the cylinder. If it doesn't make any difference, look at valves. If it brings the compression up, look at rings.
