Default Not too quick, quick connect 97 accord

I'm in the process of changing rear brake lines. Everything is ready to drop the tank, apart from the quick connect on the vapour line. I squeeze the green tabs with my fingers and pull, but can't get it apart. Does the green part come out with the steel line, from the black outer section? Can't help but wonder, why they didn't go with a plain'ol hose clamp?

IIRC you press the collar towards the female part of the connection, & the tube slides out...?

Thanks for your response, and I know it shouldn't be complicated. The problem is that rust has formed under the release tabs preventing them from disengaging. I was hoping to salvage this line, as it is the only one of five, that is not completely rusted. For future reference, would it be advisable to coat the new lines with grease to prevent rust? Given the surprisingly good condition of this car, I can't believe the hassle I'm getting from something as simple as lines.

I've had mediocre to poor results with various coatings & goop to prevent corrosion. I hate rust... But since rust is inevitible, I don't understand why they made it so difficult to replace those lines.
