Default oil cap blows

Took my oil cap off tonite wile the car was running and was blown away by rhe ammount of air blowing out of the valve cover. It is a 95 accord. Also the oil light came on and the car hasbeen rinning like crap for some time. Any ideas? Tthe oil level is fine and there is some white foamy stuff on the undersi'de of the oilcap.

Check the coolant, see if there is oil in it. Sounds like it might be a headgasket.

Check PCV system, air inlet hose (valve cover to air intake duct), PCV valve, and PCV outlet hose (valve cover to intake manifold).

Vacuum gauge can disclose worn rings (see BAT Auto Technical-Professional mechanics giving advice-An Educational Site w/ OBD2 Trouble Codes and Technical info & Tool Store. )

Oil light is likely a defective oil pressure switch on backside of engine near oil filter. A common failure item.

good luck

co,pression shows 120,240,210,180, respectivly. water blew out of 2 and 3 when I cranked the engine to test 1. there is no water in the oil so the blow by isnt the rings. I am guessing the head gasket. whjy the big difference in compression? I hate this car

Compression may be lost through a defective head gasket, leaking intake or exhaust valve, or worn rings.

Adding oil to the cylinder and repeating the compression test will disclose rings or valves as source of compression loss. If compression goes up due to oil sealing leak path, rings are source of compression loss. However if no improvement, valve seating is likely defective. One bad cylinder suggests more likely the valves.

Head gasket can be tested for leaking into coolant w/ a chemical test. Check youtube for videos. If you're not losing coolant, head gasket is unlikely. If you are losing coolant, then head gasket is likely.

good luck
