Default 2002 Honda Accord LX a/c blows cool then blows warm

Noticed about week ago that there was a noise inside of the car. It sound like a hissing sound but it goes from light to little louder like its building up. then stops.

Then This morning my Girlfriend calls and says that the a/c blows cold then blows warm. And switches back and forth from cool to warm. Can anyone help me figure whats going on here?

Performance suggests low refrigerant charge. When compressor quits, pressure drops quickly and no cooling. This will usually result in frequent cycling of compressor on/off w/ a period of 5-10 secs, where it should be 15-20 secs, depending on temperature and heat load.

Unless you intend to DIY, time to get some professional help to check system pressures and diagnose problem.

It could also be an intermittent compressor clutch due to excessive clutch gap. This will sometimes cause erratic cooling, then no cooling.

If you want to DIY, start w/ a very good description of what's happening w/ the compressor; frequent on/off or erratic w/ long periods of OFF.

good luck

Ok.. so heres what the car is doing. the clutch on the compressor kicks on as soon i turn the a/c on. And stays on for bout 15 sec the the clutch goes off for bout 15 secs. Today i keep the car and i haven't has the problem of the a/c going warm. So maybe it just has a mind of its own. lol.

Sounds OK if cooling is acceptable.

If clutch gap or compressor relay issue, it will likely get worse as weather gets hotter.

good luck

OK thanks.. ill keep an eye on things. if it gets worse ill check the compressor gap or relay. As of right now it hasn't gone from cold to warm for me. Thanks for your time and response.
