I'm having the same issues with my 02 EX coupe. 110,000 miles, runs great, getting 29-31 mpg. The engine is dry as a bone, no leaks, but I go through at least 1 qt/ 500 miles. I have a 150 mile RT daily commute, and I'm at 80 mph most of the time. My mechanic wants to try an additive (forget the brand) to loosen up the oil scraper rings......does anyone have any experience with this stuff?

 

X2. A switch to 10w40 did nothing to reduce oil consumption. Elevation changes increased oil consumption. Around town, all flat driving, would get 600 or 700 miles/quart. Denver to 1-15 via I-70, it would be a a quart down by the time I got to Green River.


This could be a good option, but how do you know the replacement engine doesn't have the same problem?
