Default Over Heating/Spewing Coolant 96 Accord EX

Ok, so yesterday my car was fine on the way home from school, then on the way to pick up a friend i noticed some light smoke and a slight rise in temp. I had just put a needed quart of oil in about 20 minutes before. So i figured it was just burning off some spilled oil. But soon after, i noticed the temp gauge was quickly climbing and the smoke was heavier.

after i parked it, smoke was coming from an area under the distributer, and coolant was all over. I think its just a sliced hose, but im not 100% sure.

Anybody have suggestions, similar situations, fixes?

its a 1996 Accord Ex, 5 spd, f22b1 with 112xxx miles.

"Smoke" coming from under the distributor? Smoke or steam? There's a big difference. I'll assume it's steam from leaking coolant.

There's several coolant hoses down there, including the lower radiator hose & heater hoses. Any one of them could have leaked. You'll have to take a good look after it's all settled down.

But then you'll have to figure out whether it's a 1-shot thing, or what the REAL reason was. Like a blown head gasket (bad) or simply an old worn-out hose (not so bad).

Don't forget to check the thermostat also.
