Default P0340 after oil change

Hey all! It's been quite awhile since I last posted.

I did an oil change on my 03 Accord (EX) a few days ago, and the following day, the car was idling pretty rough. Yesterday, it just stopped turning over completely; it almost sounded like a lawnmower trying to start. The CEL was on, I pulled the code, and it was P0340. I called the dealership and they said it'd be a $1000 fix, which seems a little steep for a bad sensor (unless they have to tear the engine apart to get to it).

Is there any correlation between the oil change and the cam shaft sensor failing by any chance? I should note that I do have a bad axle seal if that helps.

This is a circuit fault; wiring, connector, PCM, or sensor has an electrical fault resulting in no signal to PCM. It should not cost $1K to fix. Suggest a 2nd opinion and give them attached procedure.

good luck

Thanks! I did notice that the hood liner heat shield was torn to shreds (mice) so maybe they chewed through the wiring(?). I'll give another garage a call on Monday. Will keep you updated!

A follow up question. Is it possible that the timing chain skipping teeth could cause this?

No timing chain out of sync would case P0341. P0340 is an electrical circuit fault.

good luck

Update: I double-checked the code, and it was P0341, which is a stretched timing chain (my apologies!) They're saying it'll be about $1200. I'll check in once they diagnose everything.

Update #2: Called an independent Honda shop, and they said that it's a bad sensor and probably timing because of the 0341. They quoted $650 for the entire job, so I'll be getting it taken care of next week Will give another update after it comes back!

Thanks for all the very specific updates! Post back when it's taken care of with final diagnosis and cost if you don't mind.

Final update:
Heard back from the garage today, and they did confirm timing was off, but they said two of the valves were bent as well. They told me they already have most the parts and quoted me $1000. Thanks again for all the help!
