Default Paint Blistering

2013 Honda Accord EX-L V6 2 Dr Coupe, 28,000 miles

I was detailing my car yesterday and I noticed the paint has some blisters on the front part of the hood. I think the hood is rusting underneath the paint. I have attached photos.

I went to a body shop and they say the damage is not caused by stones. The body shop said a hood replacement and paint should be covered under warranty.

They are probable going to try to say the damage is caused by stone chips. The body shop also said that Honda has to approve the work and I can choose the body shop of my choice for the repair.

The last time I had a problem with paint on a Honda, the dealership brought it to the body shop they deal with, and repaint was horrible with many defects.

Any ideas on what is causing the blistering paint? I can see more blisters developing along the entire front edge of the hood. I detail my car about every three weeks and the hood was fine the last time I detailed the car.

I appreciate any thoughts or ideas.

Thank you.

Something wasn't clean when they painted it. Be sure when you take the car in to the body shop to tell them what you expect and won't sign off until it looks just like the one in the showroom. Does Honda have a number in the Owners Manual you can call. The one good thing about my last (as in never again!) Ford, was they always tried to help. The FiestaForum actually had a Ford person who's job was to assist whenever anyone had a problem! She would always say "PM me" for any little thing! Take an aggressive approach.
