Please help! Last thing i need to do
ok i bought a 1999 honda accord coupe v6 with 220k on it
the srs light is on and the person i bought it from says its always been on
i tried taking off the mes connector and jumping it with a paper clip to reset it but when i touch the two together it doesnt flash off or do anything of the such. pretty sure its the right cable since it has no male connectors and is yellow as described....
not really sure what else it could be. any of your experience would help.
i bought this car to sell it and i have it listed but id like to get this taken care of before any buyers come see it.
thank you, josh

The easiest way is to get the codes read is by the scanner. I think the SRS is something only a dealership can read, but you can stop by a parts store and write down any codes found.
What are the wire colors on the MES connector you are shorting?

Copy and paste the link below to short the proper pins on the obd2 connector. Look at the 98-02 part.
You must make sure that you are shorting pin of the brown wire to the pin of the black wire. The numbering can be confusing, so don't screw this up.
Once you do that, you can turn the key to the II position, then count the SRS light flashes.

its not insured or have plates. im pretty sure its the right connector because it has no male prongs. its just in an empty socket like explained. i think i might have not put the paperclip in deep enough. a lot of people said it has to go ALL the way in to do anything...

im not looking to find the numbering yet. im trying to reset the srs system from the MES connector to see if that will fix the problem first off. and when i used the paperclip the light didnt go off at all as explained in the reseting proccedure

Sorry about that. I didn't realize that you just wanted to reset the SRS. I would try some thinner wire just to make sure that you are jumping the connector.
If that does not reset the SRS, then I would suspect the control unit.
