Default Please help me!

96 accord cpe ex. When driving car will accelerate to 3000 rpm. Put it in neutral while moving and it stays at 3000 rpm. When stopped it goes back down to normal idle after a few seconds. Quits doing this after a bit of driving but will start again if I restart the car, full warm or cold. Speed sensor issue? Please help, im goin insane lol

Is the engine actually at 3000 rpm, or is the gauge showing 3000 rpm?

Me, I'd start with cleaning and adjust the IAC and FITV. Check the "Common DIY Threads" sticky at the top of this section......

Along the same lines, I would clean the inside of the throttle body and both sides of the throttle plate with some throttle body cleaner.

Thanx guys ill try that n see. I did get a tps code a while back and I put a new sensor in and cleaned the throttle body like new. Ill see n let u know.

@ PA..... Im in zelienople lol

If this problem started happening right after the TPS installation, then you may not have gotten the sensor in properly. There is a slot in the sensor that fits on to the metal pivot on the throttle plate that you need to line up.

It worked fine for a while. I adjusted it and it seemed to make a bit of difference so I think I got it all figured out. Thnx again!
