popping noise under hard braking
Hey guys, need some more help with my 97 accord again. It’s a 2.2 non v-tech with the automatic trans. LX model. I am hearing a lot of noise when I brake. When I brake hard it makes a little more popping noise. I suspected it to be maybe u-joints even though I thought those made noise only when turning so I checked those out and they are good. Only have 20,000 miles on them since last time I replaced them. I looked really quick under the car at the suspension and didn’t notice anything. Is there anything I should look at more closely? The car has over 260,000 miles on it. Most highways. It has been in a wreck but that was years ago. It’s never done this till now.
Oh yea, and one more issue is my transmission. I have felt it only twice. When I go around a turn and accelerate, it feels like the trans. is slipping until I turn the car straight. Then it feels like it grabs. Any ideas?? Thanks.

It could be your wheel bearings. Does it only do it when you turn to to the right or to the left? Here is how you can tell.....go about 25-30 mph in a SAFE BIG parking lot, then turn your wheel sharply to the right, if you hear the noise then its your left bearing, because its under the load. Do the same thing by turning to the the left, see what happens.
