Default Possible VTEC problem. Not Really sure.
Hey, im new here and i have a problem with my car. I dont know much about Hondas so im hoping to get some help. Its a 1998 4dr Accord with a 2.3 Liter VTec SOHC automatic trans. Just 2 days ago i changed out both gaskets on the Vtec solenoid because they were both leaking oil. I got the gasket that sits between the head and solenoid at the dealer but they told me the smaller one on the spool valve is not produced anywhere. So instead, i used black rtv to seal it. I applied the rtv and let it sit for about a day. I put the solenoid back on and changed my oil with a new filter and put in the correct amount of oil. I drove it all day but it acts funny when i push it just a bit hard. It starts hesitating or it seems like its bouncing off a rev limiter at about 4000 RPM. I posted the video on youtube so yall can see. The check engine light is from an egr valve and the motor is all stock. I posted this question on another honda forum but no one responded. Just looking for some help.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TTX22XXUDss

Does it still leak?
Is the EGR the only error code stored now?

So the gasket you cant get is between the solenoid & the spool valve? The triangle flange? You may be able to get that by looking for the corresponding piece from an Acura Integra GSR.

Clean the EGR passage and reset the ECU.
The engine will have a rev limit running with a code store in the ECU.
It is running in 'Default' mode; fixed parameters.
