Default Power Steering Fluid?

How important is it to use only Honda power steering fluid? I will be replacing the fluid soon and noticed that Wallmart has 12 oz.Champion brand power steering fluid for $1.69. The label states that it is compatible with GM, Ford Chrysler and Honda.

Very important, there has been more than one report of aftermarket/off brand PS Fluid making things all sorts of messed up, make sure after the fluid change that you don't have any air in the system

I've seen labels that say it's compatible when adding. Kinda misleading if you ask me... I wouldn't use that if you're replacing all the fluid.

Something that lasts as long as p/s fluid doesn't need to be cheaped on.

Default Honda P.S. fluid vs aftermarket brands?

My power steering fluid is at lower level, so i need to add just a few ounces. So you guys suggest Honda fluid only? I was wondering if just adding a little of off brand is going to make that much of a difference? How many members use Honda PS fluid vs aftermarket brands?

Honda fluid from the dealer isn't really stupid expensive, so that's what I use.

Just get a Saab or BMW then you'll need $22per liter special Pentosin fluid for your power steering...
