Default Problem starting

my friends 92 honda accord starter went out three months ago and it sat for all this time. today i decided to help her out and i changed the starter. after the starter installation car cranks fine but it wont start.

-so i checked the spark and it was very week and spark plug boots were soaked with oil
-loosened the fuel line where it attaches to the fuel rail it squirted out fuel

then i...

-i changed spark plug wires and plugs
-changed the valve cover gasket set
-changed the battery

now the car catches up a little with starter fluid but it dies right after. this car ran perfect before starter gave out, i dont know why this car wont start anymore. any advice will be appreciated.

Your test with starter fluid seems to indicate a fuel problem.

Your description makes it sound like a spark problem.

In the common DIY thread on top of the gen tech help forum, open the link on how to check engine codes. Post any codes you get on here.

I would disconnect the battery and clean all ends of both battery cables with a small wire brush or sandpaper.

There is a ground bolt on the thermostat housing that you will want to disconnect and clean up as well.

Do you have a timing light?
