Problems with AutoLite 5224 Spark Plugs on '99 3.0L V6?

Default Problems with AutoLite 5224 Spark Plugs on '99 3.0L V6?

I have new spark plugs (AL 5224) for my model Honda (Auto 3.0L '99 Accord). Looks like the factory plug gap is .044"? Is that correct? Also, has anyone had any problems with the AutoLite's? I have ran them for years on other cars with no problems, just curious on the Honda's.

Hondas (in general) seem to like NGK or Denso best. Some people have had issues with other brands, while some people say other brands work OK.

Just for myself, I'll use NGK or Denso. Are YOU having problems with them?

No, I am not. I just had these from when I bought them a couple years ago. I never got around to installing them and was going to this weekend, while I did the EGR drill TSB.

Changed the spark plugs this weekend with the AutoLite's. I removed the NGK's that were in there and the car runs great, super smooth.

Don't be surprised if the Autolites start missing or otherwise running rough within a month or two.

I'll be on the lookout for it. Never had a problem with using them on 6 other vehicles, but perhaps the Honda's are weird.

It doesn't appear to be just Hondas, internet forums are rife with complaints from owners of cars of all makes which were originally designed for NGKs when another brand of plug is installed. Personally I experienced driveablility issues with my VR6 Passat following a plug change (the NGKs were both hard to find and really expensive compared to the Autolites I found for it); putting NGKs back in solved the issue. My neighbor ran into the same thing with both his Mazda3 and his Honda Accord; buying new NGKs (on my recommendation) after only three months solved the problems for both cars.

Interesting; I have always looked at is a "per capita" issue. Millions of AL's are sold each month, and attributed the complaints to cull rate %'s (i.e., the more you make, the more problems you will see).

Just contacted buddy, he has a '99 Honda Accord as well (4 cylinder) and has used AutoLite's since the 50k mark. It now has 325k on it. We might just be lucky?

I'll keep an eye out and thanks for the heads-up.
