Default Push button start grinding

I recently purchased a '14 V6 at coupe.
This has happened several times in the last month, twice today. When I push the starter button it grinds, as if the starter where missing the connection. I can start with the very next push and it usually goes away for a few days.

Bad battery? Solenoid? Is this a typical issue?

Only 21k miles, so I can easily take it in for repair. Just wondering.

Its hard to tell exactly what is causing the problem, but it definitely sounds like an internal problem with the starter. I'd take it in, so your car doesn't eventually leave you stranded.

Honda issued a technical service bulletin regarding starter grind for the 2013-15 V6 with AT. Honda TSB 16-002.

SYMPTOM
The starter grinds or spins at startup.

POSSIBLE CAUSES
The clearance between the starter motor gear and the torque converter ring gear is not optimal.

CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace the starter and rotate the torque converter clockwise one bolt-hole.
