Default Question about headlights staying on when unlocking car

I just got a 2010 Accord Coupe EX-L...the other night my lights stayed on when I unlocked the car but I haven't been able to replicate it since. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Lol

Your car has an automatic lighting off feature, which turns off the headlights, other exterior lights, and dashboard within 15 seconds after you remove the key and close the driver's door.

If you didn't manually turn off the headlight the last time you removed the key and closed the door, and later return to unlock or open the driver's door, the headlights, etc. will turn on again.

Ok so if I leave the headlights in the on position and exit the car without turning them to off or auto, they'll go off after 15 seconds and when I unlock it they'll come on? That wouldn't effect anything bc its turning off, so the battery will be fine right?

The reason I ask is bc every car I've ever owned, if you push the unlock button on the key fob, the headlights came on for 15-20ish seconds?

The reason I want it to do this is bc it's a nice feature at night when trying to get in the door when you forgot to turn the outside light on or someone turned it off!

Thanks for your help!
