Default radiator tank overflow

well something weird happened with my car that had never happened before. .i was driving to my brothers house to give his car a boost and then i noticed that my car had leaked radiator fluid. .the fluid seemed to be overflowing from the resevoir tank. .my question is why? the radiator cap gasket at the very top has only little tears so i doubt thats the problem.. i did notice that the resevoir tank is filled with fluid over the max line. .is that it? thanks for any input

put a new radiator cap and try it ,, if cap has tears on the gasket it is not going to hold pressure,, coolant will bypass and go to the overflow bottle, overfilling it..
