Its hard to tell from the video. If I had to guess, I would say the PS pump.

Take off the serpentine belt and see if the noise goes away. Hopefully its not the engine making that noise.

Tried that, it's the engine. The cybershot camera kind of makes the sound seem louder than it does in person. I've heard quite a few videos on the web of this engine making that same sound, but no real conclusive solutions yet. It quiets down as soon as the engine warms up ( minute or two).

Hopefully, just loose valves and lash adjustment will remedy.

good luck

There was one guy who posted a video with a similar sound, and he said the dealership changed the timing belt tensioner (it was loose), and that solved the problem. I am planning to check the valvelash next weekend. The timing belt job is due, so I was planning to tackle that job over the christmas hollidays, when I have some extra time. I was just hoping someone (a tech) had dealt with this issue before and new exactly what it was. The guy who said the tensioner solved his problem couldn't give me much in the way of details, because he had not performed the repairs, and didn't exactly get much from the dealership's bill. Some people have suggested that it could be piston slap? or a wrist pin issue? I hope not, because I don't want to dig that deep into the engine. Thanks for your help

Bump up please. Anyone have this problem, and know the cause?

I ordered the adjuster and idler tonight, from an online dealership (2 day shipping). I already had the belt, tensioner, and water pump. I'm hoping to do the job this weekend, if everything comes together. I don't want to go into this half ready. I'll let you know how it turns out.
