Rear window tint removal.. Will it damage defroster?
I recently bought a 2010 accord coupe. The windows are already tinted, and they look fine except the rear window- this tint is extremely dark and blurry and difficult to see through at night on rear window ..I want to remove it, but places I have called say that they are worried about damaging the defroster lines, and will charge a minimum of $100. I have read about ways to remove the tint yourself, such as ammonia, and heat gun.. Any suggestions?
Heat gun works,,but as you stated..if you rip one of those lines in the defroster ,,it will not work right,,I have the same issue with my 96,,dreading it,,I may just replace the rear window,,cost vs, damage ?? Take your time,,spray it down with soapy water,,cover the inside of the rear window with a heavy duty bvlack trash bag,,tape it up in place,,park it in the sun for a few hours to help loosen the glue,,,use Goo Be Gone on residue,,good luck.
Thanks. Yeah.. Living in the Midwest, can't afford to be without rear defroster. I just wonder if this defroster issue is less likely to happen to a Honda as opposed to, say, a Ford or Kia... Or if all glass with defrosters are built the same...
I used a steamer to remove the tint from my brother's grand prix. You want to make sure you get the tint hot, but not the defroster. Pulled the tint slowly on the back window to remove it and kept an eye on the defroster.
