Default Recall R89?

While looking at a 2007 accord EX the carfax showed a clean vehicle but one open recall. I have never dealt with recalls before and while a quick search of this one showed it was transmission related, is this something to avoid even if it is fixed? It has almost 100,000 miles on it so I'm not sure if the dealer will fix the problem? From what I can tell it was a software update but did this fix the problem?

Thank you

A recall is a recall, period, full stop, the end. If there is a recall, then by definition, the manufacturer must provide the fix.

Good deal, that answers that, thank you.

Do you know any of the details of this recall? Is it a band aid or did it fix the problem? My 97 has 255,000 mile son it and I would like to repeat that with something a bit newer. I keep reading that Hondas have had trasnmission problems but the two I have owned has lasted a quarter million easy so I'm not sure what the deal is. I change my fluid once a year if that matters.

The deal is that 1997 was the last year for bulletproof Honda automatics.

What on earth makes you think Toyotas don't have recalls as well? In fact, name me one brand ever sold in North America which has never had recalls.

This is probably the recall below. Unless the person was constantly stuck in snow and rocking the transmission ( Drive to Reverse ) before the wheels stop it probably would never be a problem. The recall is on the software not the actual transmission. They will fix it free just bring it in. I dont know if it effected all models it depended on who sourced the shaft in the transmission if you call the dealer and give the VIN they will tell you. Carfax may have just lumped all model years in there information.
