I'm having the same problem, does anyone know why the car is only redlining at 5500 rpm?

Ok so regarding this thread. My car has all new parts regarding the spark/ignition. Pointy thing I can think of is fuel pump/rev limiter..

let me try to put this one to bed. the engine is spec'd at 145 hp at 5500 rpms. that means the manufacturer cannot attest to anything above that nor warranty it. this elusive "rev limiter" you all are talking about is built into the PCM/ECM. at that rpm, the computer shuts down fuel and/or spark thus forcing engine revolutions to decrease. hope this is clear as mud...

it's all about the "wow factor"

my pontiac has a 160mph speedo. do you ever think it has seen 160 in stock form anyway?

It should spin up to redline. Is VTEC working?
