Refilling Refrigerant

Refilling Refrigerant
I gotta refill the refrigerant to a 98-02 model accord. I got 2 12oz cans of refridgrant which supposedly has a leak sealer. Someone who knows cars helped me refill it before, and it worked for a couple months and now it's hot again, cause there is a leak. I'm not gonna have the car much more so i'll just live by this for now.
My question is, when filling it up with refrigerant, do I have to put the AC on? I remember doing it before, but on this can it doesn't say to put the AC on. Also, should I use both cans (24 oz total)?
Thanks!

RE: Refilling Refrigerant
First thing I'll say is that I wouldn't put that sealer crap in my worst enemys A/C system.
Well, maybe Osama Bin Ladens A/C. [sm=badbadbad.gif]
It will cause problems later on, plugged up expansion valve or equalizer tube.
Yes you need to have the A/C on when putting the Freon in the LOW side lineof the system.

RE: Refilling Refrigerant
i did this a couple of weeks ago. the directions i had said to roll the windows down and set the ac to max. you don't want it shutting off while filling it.
i used a pressure gauge while doing it too. i think i used somewhere around 16-20 oz. and mine was completely empty.
