Default Regular or Premium?

Is it better to run premium instead of regular in the accord? I have the V6 so i figured it could keep things a bit cleaner and fuel efficient. Has anyone had a relevant difference between regular and premium gasoline?

What does your Owner's Manual say? I'll bet it says Regular. The fact is that in cars designed for Regular fuel, running Premium will be, if anything, dirtier and less fuel efficient.

If I am not mistaken, isn't the Acura V6 and the Honda V6 the same engine? Why is it that the Acura calls for Premium and the Honda calls for regular? Are there mods to the Acura engine that require the use of Premium that the Honda doesn't have?

My mechanic says that in his Acura V6 that he runs 1 tank Premium, 1 tank Regular.

I've been running premium in my 2013 V6 since I bought it. Not sure that the extra $8 per tank is offset in better performance.

Thoughts or opinions are most welcome!

The Acura has a higher compression ratio, hence the premium gas.

This is one of the things I'm thinking about in a furture car purchase. An Acura TL-SH vs an Accord EXL coupe v6. Cost of ownership differences...humm

EDIT: To answer the question, the small small gain in your Accord vs the $8 per tank cost....IMHO, not worth it. Run what the owners manual calls for.

Premium should only be used in high compression engines or forced induction applications. Otherwise it'll just effect your wallet.

We test drove the TL SH-AWD before settling on the Accord V6. The EX-L V6 has all the features of the Acura, uses regular gas, and drives just as nice for $10-$12k less.

It was basically a no-brainer for us. However, the suspension in this Honda is tight which gives the Accord a rough ride. Hard to drink a beer without making a mess. LOL I'm hoping over time that the suspension loosens up.
