Default Reliable shop for timing belt change

I'm here in Chino Hills, CA. Anyone knows a good shop? The dealer quoted me less than $700 for Timing belt, water pump, drive belts etc and valve alignment or adjustment or whatever they call it.

Thanks guys!

Less than $700 at a dealership is really not bad at all. I would look in the Yellow Pages for a local shop that specializes in Hondas (i.e. A Honda Certified shop) and ask them for quotes as well. I got about $100 less than what all the dealers in town were quoting me because I did that.

I think $700 sounds reasonable. I'm in utah and I've found places that will do all that for $400-$600, so if you call around you can find a place that is cheaper. Make sure to ask them if they have done the same type of car before, and also see what warranty they offer. Most shops will do 3 months labor, and 12 months parts.

If you are really ambitious, you can do it yourself for $150-$200, go to ebay motors and buy a timing belt kit with all the parts you need. It will also grow more hair on your chest

A buddy of mine and I decided to do the timming belt on his 93 accord, which has the internal water pump. It is kind of a pain in the as* to do but you will save the money. If you are looking to do it yourself with no experience get yourself a chiltons or haynes manual which will show you step by step how to do the job and lists the tools needed. since it is your first time doing this job plan on it taking you about 6 to 8 hours to do the job. but in the end you will know how to do it again when needed and you'll save about 400 bucks. good luck.

Took me $160 and 4 hours to do it. It's not as difficult as people make it out to be.

Thank you all for the quick replies. I called some shops and they're charging me between $400-$600 and some say they will also replace some bearings or something. They also said they will use genuine parts. Will I be able to find out if they did use a genuine part? I don't have any knowledge on this stuff so please bear with me. Thanks much!

Make them show you the boxes with Honda on them! The bearings they are talking about are probably the belt tensioners. I would use the cheapest shop that will use genuine parts. Or, if you trust a more expensive shop more ask if they will price match.
