Default Removing the Mounting Bolts on a 04 Accord LX Starter

Hi Guys,

Over the July Fourth Holiday, I tried replacing my starter myself, everything was good until I tried getting the 14MM Mounting Long Bolt off the Starter.

Could not do it. (Tried PB Blaster, Butane Torch, Breaker Bar) (Ended up getting jobbed by my dealer's service dept)

There was no rust but the bolt was torqued on pretty good.

I was about to use a cheater pipe. (But I read online that I might shear off the bolt, if I used one. I did not want to deal with that)

Now I am just curious how do people get the 14MM and 17MM Mounting Bolts off.

Any tips by people who done this? Thanks

Breaker bar - cheater pipe and slow pressure . I'm a little guy so leverage is my friend on a ton of projects.

Thanks.

In retrospect, I should have used a cheater pipe, and chances of me shearing thru a non-rusted bolt was small. (I think I was reading a post where the poster was referring to instances of warning against using cheater pipes on rusted hardware ... that scared me off.)

Heh, Live and Learn.

The next thing is "slow pressure" - when the lever is long like that sudden "jerks" can lead to many problems.....in my opinion.

I have assorted sizes of "black pipe" from the local "home store" that I use to slip over the end of my ratchets to help me get things moving
