Default Removing those large nuts inside BX7A V-6 tranny

To anybody who has done so, how did you remove the nuts on top those three shafts, once you've got the top cover off? If you use an impact wrench the flats on the nuts are huge so the impact socket you will need will be quite pricey. What about using a large Crescent wrench? Will there be enough leverage to loosen the nuts? I know you can keep the gears from moving using a shop rag jammed between the gears. See attached pic.

Attached pdf from another forum contains instructions on removing these from an MDX V6 trans. Should be very similar.

Some are LH threaded!

good luck

TexasHonda, thanks for the rebuild guide. Although the BX7A is a bit different, much of the material would be helpful, particularly the tips on tranny removal and changing the main seal on the engine while you're at it.

I have the Honda shop manual so I know some of the nuts are LH thread.

Actually I found some cheap 36 mm+ impact sockets on Amazon for maybe $12 so I'll just buy one. The ones made in the USA are like $37, but the imported ones should be fine.
