Replacing/Cleaning IAC Valve - 98 Accord EX

EVAP codes usually mean that you didnt tighten the gas cap 3 clicks, I've gotten that before too. If it's persistent, it acutally may be the EVAP canister haha.
And don't worry, the previous owner of my car (bought in April) said the CEL has been on for 7 years. Runs and drives great, especially after cleaning the manifold.
As far as doing things right, if you don't want to tackle cleaning the manifold yet, then don't do something youre not comfortable doing. You may as well just remove the EGR valve, clean out the ports with carb cleaner the best you can (you can see the rectangular opening on the right travel to the intake manifold). If you destroy the gasket, buy a new one or just make one with the RTV.

I am still getting the EGR code, even with the new valve... Do you think cleaning out what I can access by only removing the valve is going to be enough to keep my Honda happy?
I really appreciate all your help!

The original owner actually warned me about the evap code, and told me the dealer told him it was due to the car not having a stock Honda gas cap. I guess it is picky about venting?

With a new EGR valve, the only thing you fixed was the valve opening or not, the passageway to the and from the valve can be easily clogged with carbon soot and thats what usually goes wrong.
Your welcome for the help! I like to be on here helping and if it saves someone some money or a big headache, then great!

Can anyone tell me where to find the specs for all of the fuel sensors such as IAC,TB,etc. I have a friend who is a good mechanic, but without knowing what the readings are supposed to be he cannot do much. My 99 has some idling issues and I would rather not drive 50 miles to the Honda dealer and pay $75/hr. A shop manual would be great if I could get one cheap/free online.

The pdf manuals are linked in the DIY section, but I think they don't go as new as 99.
www.helminc.com is the absolute best manual, but pricey. But it'll pay for itself with one hour shop labor.
You might be able to find one of those Helm books at a public library??
