Default Ride unstable after 90K service

OK, with 180K miles on my ’93 Accord I bring it in to the dealer for a 90K service. Pick it up the next day and driving home the ride feels really unstable. Body motion feels very stiff in the upward direction then the body pitches way down after a road divot. At times like it’s rocking severely from left to right to left. It was not like this when I brought it in for service, the ride quality was very good prior to the service work Any ideas what might be going on? I’ll be bringing it up later today to have the dealer check into this.

If they did an alignment, they messed something up. I agree first thing is give the shop a chance to make it right.

I would check the lug nuts to make sure they are tight. "stiff in the upward direction " makes me think of a bent control arm which could give you "the rocking severely from left to right to left" Strange things happen but the dealership will take care of it. When I had my 95 Accord towed in for the balance seal replaced my car drove like that. The wrecker driver tied down a rear control arm and bent it really bad.

On a car that old it could be a shock that failed dueto lifting. There is a tsb for lifting a car and causing something internal in the shock to fail. I've never seen it and I believe it is supposed to be much more common in high mileage southern car due to summer temperatures affecting the components. I have seen strut mount bearing fail apart as soon as the weight of the car was no longer acting upon it.

They may have screwed up or it may have just been some bad luck for you and them. But they should have test drove the car before returning it.

Thank you for the input! A return visit to the dealer found two front struts were locked up apparently from being left up on the lift overnight. I could not find anything on-line about locked up struts, so this was news to me. Dealer is working with me though … covering labor, rental car, and parts at a discount.
