Default Rough idling

Hi all.. I have a 2000 Honda accord lx 4 cyl fwd with 111000 miles. Recently I noticed loud rumbling sound from the cabin when idling. The vibration exists on a low level while driving.I changed all belts and water pump but still has the problem. Also I hear a clucking sound what I believe is from the exhaust pipe only when idling. It disappears as I press on accelerator it reappear when car is running very slow or idling. I drive about 80 miles a day mostly on highways. My mechanic suggests it could be the cat converter. He also found the sparkplugs were badly burnt and sugggested using premium gas. Please give me some opinion on this.. I would appreciate any help.. Tks

Please tell more on the "burnt plugs" comment? At that mileage I will guess you just had the timing belts done (water pump comment), were the plugs changed at that time?

Have the mounts been inpsected?

Hmm, badly burnt plugs - can you elaborate on that? any pics?

I have a similar issue with my 04 Accord 2.4L but since there is now no more compression in cylinder one now I think I am going to need a new motor, let's hope your luck is better!

Regards
Steve
